

WASHINGTON D.C. — Congressman Gregory Meeks (NY-05) has intensified his criticism of House Republicans, accusing them of intentionally prolonging the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shutdown by refusing to accept bipartisan reforms aimed at curbing misconduct within ICE.
In a direct message shared on social media, Meeks argued that the current standoff is a result of the GOP’s refusal to implement “common-sense oversight” for federal immigration agents. The highlights of his statement include:
