AFGE LOCAL 2222 covers the geographical area of the state of New York and New Jersey, representing all of the Transportation Security Administration bargaining unit employees in all federalized airports.
In order to achieve this the members of AFGE LOCAL 2222 Executive Board hold constant meetings and discussions with the Federal security Directors of these airports and their staff; in order to ensure the changes needed to the quality of life of our members and the compliance of the contracted labor law agreements. On a more localized situation airport terminals have AFGE representation in the form of shop stewards who help their peers mediate workplace disputes with management, handle grievances and report to the Executive Board when contract violations happen. This system is constantly improving under the leadership of the President of the Local which oversees the vice presidents and Airport representatives in order to make representation available to all those employees who needed. Special area of concern for our membership such as political action, women affairs' and fair practices along with Young - Recruitment and organizing initiatives for young union members are handled by the board through the creation of appointed committees.
